JENNIFER MELTON

  My new pieces are inspired by handmade patchwork quilts, using quilting techniques of putting together small sections to create a whole, layering materials, and hand-sewing the layers together.  Each “patch” is a little collage on painted canvas.  Incorporated into the patches are hundreds of little objects I have collected over many years, including cards of buttons, tiny toys, bits of post cards, vintage belt buckles – even a harmonica.  Grouped on four panels of four dozen patches each, the resulting quilt-like pieces are a riot of color, pattern, and content.
